These carbohydrate myths need to be debunked as they can affect your weight loss goals.
Can you have carbs if you're trying to lose weight? With several low carb diets to choose, it becomes a very difficult task.
Experts decode several misconceptions surrounding carbohydrates. They say that low carb diets are another dietary fad.
A balance of nutrients is what is important when it comes to weight loss. We need proteins, carbs and fat in our diet and losing weight is about the right balance for you.

There are some misconceptions that surround carbohydrates.
One of the myth is that carbs make you gain weight.
When you miss out on carbs, you tend to lose weight, because you have cut out a large number of calories from your diet.
Low carb diet may not always be the answer for weight loss. It is definitely not effective than weight loss achieved throught balanced diet.
Another myth is that bread and pasta needs to be avoided.

Bread and pasta are not the enemy. Its the portions and the type of grains that you select that can sabotage your weight loss goals.
Always try to pick up a whole grain option which has more fibre as it can make you feel fuller for long.
Another of the myth is that all carbs are created equal.
Depending on the fibre content carbs break down to sugar at a slower or faster pace. Getting the right kind of carbs by cutting out as many processed foods, baked foods, sugary foods and added sugars is what is more important.
Another myth that needs to be debunked right away is that carbs can make you gassy and bloated.

It is true that carbs can cause indigestion and gas. But that is not the case for all of us. Sometimes intolerance or sensitivity to any food can cause bloating, gas and diarrhoea.
Another major myth is that low carb diets are healthier for you.
Just because your diet is low in carbs, it does not mean its healthier for you. Cutting out all carbs from your diet isn't an healthier option for you.
Carbs are your body's preferred source of energy and not having enough of this can lead to brain fog, signs of low blood sugar etc. Healthy carb foods can provide you with nutrients and vitamins that your body requires.
