Surprising Things That Up Your Risk For Skin Cancer
Skin cancer is defined as any malignant growth that appears on the skin. There are three major types of skin cancer: melanoma, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell cancer. Since the tumours typically develop on the epidermis or the outermost layer of the skin, finding the tumour growth is comparatively simple.
Skin cancer is very common nowadays. However, the death rate due to skin cancer is very less as it is most likely to be diagnosed in the initial stages. Melanoma is the worst type of skin cancer, but it is less common than the two other types of skin cancer.

There are many factors that cause skin cancer. The most common factor is exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun. Decrease in the resistance power due to some disease is another factor. It can be caused by certain drugs and chemicals. Exposure to high degrees of X-rays and lights in tanning beds can cause skin cancer.

However, there are some surprising reasons that can cause skin cancer. Lets discuss them. Studies have revealed that people with red hair are more prone to suffer from skin cancer. When red-haired people are exposed to UV radiation, a cancer-causing pathway is activated by a certain mutation.
If you are a person who flies frequently, you are more likely to suffer from skin cancer because at that level, you are exposed to UV radiation which is fifteen percent more intense. Hence, you should use a good quality sunscreen when you are flying. It is the same case with people living on the mountains. It is due to elevation.

People who drive a lot or travel a lot in cars and buses are more prone to have skin cancer as they are frequently exposed to UV radiation. The solutions are to apply a good quality sunscreen and cover the glasses of the cars and buses with transparent window film.
According to studies, a bad sunburn can cause skin cancer. It doubles the risk of developing melanoma later on in life. So, make sure to apply a good quality sunscreen before you go out into the sun.
