Important Medical Tests For Men
In recent years much has been written about yearly medical examinations. There is an extensive list of tests that men must undergo annually, particularly after turning forty. Taking into account the cost and the time required for conducting these examinations, many people are hesitant to conduct these tests.
However, it should be noted that with the type of fast-paced life that we lead, the stress and the level of pollution, more and more people are becoming the victims of certain life style-related diseases. If not checked at the earliest, these could prove to be fatal. Hence the value of these tests cannot be undermined.

Let us discuss a couple of tests that every man should undergo after they turn forty. The first test is to check whether you are overweight or not. Check your body mass index. Overweight individuals can become the victim of diabetes and heart diseases in future.

Go for cancer screenings. Risk factors may include family history, like having a close relative with cancer, as well as lifestyle problems, like smoking. The most important cancer screening that men should go for without neglect is prostrate cancer. Colorectal cancer is also very common in men. Colonoscopy is done to detect it.

Cholesterol screening, for instance, is advocated for those who have a family history of heart diseases. Always test your HDL (good cholesterol), LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglyceride levels. High levels of LDL and triglyceride can prove to be fatal in the long run as it is one of the most common causes of heart diseases.

Those who have a history of high blood pressure should check their blood pressure regularly. If required, medication should be taken to bring it under control. High blood pressure can lead to a number of diseases related to the heart, kidney and eyes. Blood sugar levels should also be tested to find out whether you are at risk from suffering from diabetes.

Annual medical examinations are a great necessity for a healthy lifestyle. Just ensure you are guided by your physician and the test is done in a professional and a reputed pathology laboratory.
