Foods You Should Strictly Avoid If You Have Stomach Ulcer

Ulcers are those small sore-like eruptions that develop in the intestines, stomach as well as the oesophagus. They are painful too. So what exactly causes stomach ulcers? It is caused by a bacteria called the H.pylori.

Once diagnosed, there are certain treatment measures which one could take up, but as it is well said that prevention is better than cure, avoiding certain foods helps in preventing further aggravation of the condition.

1.Spicy Foods:

Spicy foods lead to an increase in the acidity level, thus causing an irritation to the stomach lining and this worsens the condition if you are suffering from stomach ulcer.



Alcohol increases the acidity level and hence it should be avoided strictly if you have stomach ulcer.



Drinks containing caffeine should be strictly avoided. Caffeine is one ingredient that aggravates the condition further if you have stomach ulcer.


4.Red Meat:

Rich in protein and fat, red meat takes a longer time to digest and it releases a lot of acid, thus affecting the stomach lining. This in turn aggravates stomach ulcers.


5.Dairy Products:

Milk and other dairy products should be avoided by those suffering from stomach ulcers. Dairy products are rich in fat and proteins which aid in the production of high amounts of stomach acid. This leads to the worsening of the stomach ulcer.


6.High Salty Foods:

If you are suffering from stomach ulcer then you should avoid consumption of high-sodium foods as foods containing high amounts of salt will further worsen the condition.


7.Soft Drinks:

Soft drinks or carbonated drinks contain a lot of citric acid, sugar additives and preservatives that affect the stomach linings and aggravate the condition if you are suffering from stomach ulcers.
