Yoga, is the earliest form of spiritual exercise which was invented in India by the Yogi's. Yoga, literally means union. Union of the human soul with the universe. Yoga is a vast concept and have many forms and stages added to it's name as and when a new revelation came up. The recent yoga trend, as it is called by the new generation is that of Power Yoga.

Power Yoga is closely based on vinyasa style, which means 'eight limbs' in Sanskrit. It refers to eight limbs of yoga.

Yoga is more than just weight loss. It is a phylosophical learning. Power yoga, first affects your thinking. Only with a good and pure thinking can one workout on the whole system. It effects you mentally, spiritually and physically.

Lets Look At Main Factors Of Power Yoga -

Yamas

The first stage teaches you how to interact with the World. It teaches you social decipline - Ahimsa (non-violence),
Satya (truthfulness),
Asteya (non-stealing),
Brahmacharya (celibacy) and
Aparigraha (non-covetousness)

Niyamas

This stage teaches you how to interact with oneself. It helps in maintaining a positive environment. The Niyamas are -
Shaucha or purity
Santosha or contentment
Tapa or austerity
Swadhyaya or self-education and
Ishwar-Pranidhan or meditation on the Divine

Yogasana

Only after this do we come to the fitness of body. The yogasanas is not only an exercise but is also the way of cleansing once body. Their are eight kind of yogasanas - Standing Asanas
Forward Bending Asanas
Supine Asanas
Inverted Asanas
Abdominal and Lumbar Asanas
Twisting Asanas
Back Bending Asanas

Pranayam

Pranayam teaches breathing techniques, which manipulates our energy. It reprocesses our breathing process and helps in relaxing and get rid of tensions. The specific scientific breathing helps us to unviel the dark spots in oneself and also heightens our attention.

How To Do Power Yoga?

To do power yoga one should expertise in Ujjaini breath. It is done by closing the back of the throat and making a hissing sound. One should inhale and exhale taking deep breaths. Breathing should only be done through nose with mouth closed.

Then comes the Warrior 1 position. Spread your fingers and toes while doing ujjaini breath. This allows energy to flow through the limbs.

Warrior 2 position is opening up of arms wide, spreading fingers and toes while taking three deep Ujjaini breaths.

Put your arms on the mat, so that your nose touch the ground. Lower the body by exhaling. Practice Vinsaya pose. The vinsaya pose is better known as Sun salutation. Which is a series of exercise following the breathing process.

Power Yoga is a wide concept and people following it have experience a completely new makeover of oneself, physically and mentally.
