Black Rice The Healthiest Food Item
However with the blurring line between the nobles and regular mass, Black Rice is being widely used in China. Western countries use it occasionally, whereas in India it is rarely used.
Black Rice is a heirloom rice, cultivated in Asia. It looks black when it is raw. After it is cooked, the colour changes to deep purple.
Experts urge more intake of 'Black Rice' for the following health benefits -
1.Anthyocyanins – The black colour of the rice is attributed to an element called, Anthyocyanins. It is an anti-oxdent, which is also present in blue berries, black cheeries and raspberries. More precisely it has Vitamin – E antioxidants.
2.Prevent Heart Attack – Experts have noticed that intake of Black Rice reduces the intake of atherosclerotic plaques, which is one of the major components causing heart attack. It also helps in cutting down the component triglycerides and checks cholesterol.
3.Other Benefits – Black Rice is a rich source of fiber and minerals. The black rice shares some of it's benefits with brown rice but the presence of Anthyocyanins, makes it a better choice.
Experts suggests the inclusion of Black Rice in our regular diet for health benefits. Aged people however may find it difficult to digest 'Black Rice'. They are recommended to consume a spoonful of Black Rice with their meal.
