Valentine's Day 2026: Expert-Recommended Salon-Style Hair Care Steps You Can Do at Home
Valentine's Day is all about details: the outfit, the glow, the finishing touches. But the real game-changer? Your hair. Smooth, glossy, well-managed hair has the power to instantly elevate your entire look. It frames the face, enhances shine, and makes even the simplest style feel intentional.
The secret isn't spending hours styling. It's building the right foundation. When hair is properly cleansed, hydrated, protected and sealed, it naturally falls into place. We spoke to Ritu Vijayvergiya, Hair Expert, Co-founder, 2.Oh, who shared a haircare ritual that delivers visible results in under 20 minutes.
Salon-Style Hair Care Steps You Can Do at Home
1. Cleanse with Balance (5 minutes)
"Start with a shampoo powered by a balanced tri-surfactant blend. This ensures thorough cleansing without stripping natural moisture or roughening the cuticle," said Vijayvergiya. Removing buildup and residue creates the ideal base for smoothness and shine because healthy styling always begins with a clean canvas.
2. Deeply Hydrate and Smooth (5 minutes)
Next, use a mask loaded with deep conditioning concentrate and argan oil. This process will help recharge your hair with moisture, smooth out your hair cuticle, and also reduce frizz. "This helps to reinforce the protection of the hair, making it softer and increasing reflection to give it a healthy appearance. Even a short application can make a noticeable difference in manageability," added Vijayvergiya.
3. Lock in Control (2 minutes)
After towel drying your hair, apply a leave-in conditioner containing essential conditioning agents such as Panthenol. This is often the defining difference between hair that behaves and hair that doesn't. This helps in detangling your hair, minimizes breakage during styling, and also helps to keep your hair hydrated and in shape. Hair becomes easier to shape and easier to maintain.
4. Seal and Repair (2 minutes)
"Finish with a lightweight serum containing hydrolysed keratin and active repair agents. Hydrolysed keratin helps temporarily reinforce weakened areas along the hair shaft, while Argan oil restores softness, boosts shine, and controls flyaways without weighing the hair down," advised Vijayvergiya.
5. Shield Before Styling (2 minutes)
Before blow-drying, apply a protective styling spray. Heat can weaken the hair fibre and strip moisture, making this step essential. "Look for formulas enriched with a five-protein blend and Panthenol, which help reinforce strength, preserve smoothness, and maintain the cuticle's integrity while minimising styling damage," said Vijayvergiya.
5. Seal and Repair (2 minutes)
Finish with a lightweight serum, which has hydrolysed keratin and argan oil. This adds strength to weak points on the hair shaft, which can momentarily be repaired with hydrolysed keratin. At the same time, argan oil gives hair softness, shine, and blowout control without weighing hair down.
Bottomline
Vijayvergiya concluded, "This Valentine's Day, treat hair care as part of the ritual, not an afterthought. Because when your hair feels healthy and controlled, confidence follows naturally, and the whole look simply works."
