Samantha Ruth Prabhu Undergoes Hyperbaric Therapy: How Much It Costs, What Is It Used For?
Shaakuntalam actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who has been open about her health struggles on social media and in interviews, revealed in late 2022 that she had been diagnosed with myositis.

Recently, Samantha shared a series of photos on Instagram, including one that shows her receiving hyperbaric therapy for her autoimmune condition.
Hyperbaric therapy is a form of treatment that involves exposing the body to oxygen at a pressure greater than normal atmospheric pressure. Generally, this therapy is used to treat a variety of medical conditions, from chronic wounds to decompression sickness in divers.
What Is Hyperbaric Therapy?
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a safe and non-invasive treatment method which works by increasing the amount of oxygen in the blood, improving circulation and allowing the body to heal more quickly. The increased pressure forces oxygen into the cells, tissues, and organs, helping to reduce inflammation, fight infection, and promote healing.
This therapy can be used to treat burns, crush injuries, radiation injuries, carbon monoxide poisoning, and many other medical conditions. Depending on the condition being treated, this may take anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours [1].

Hyperbaric Therapy: What It Is Used For?
Hyperbaric therapy is often used to treat decompression sickness, a condition that can occur when a person ascends too quickly from a deep dive or breath-holding activity. It can also be used to treat carbon monoxide poisoning, severe anaemia, severe burns, and gangrene.
In addition to these, hyperbaric therapy is also used to treat infections caused by certain types of bacteria that do not respond to antibiotics.
Hyperbaric therapy is sometimes used to treat the following conditions too:
- Non-healing wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers.
- To reduce the effects of radiation therapy, including tissue damage and radiation-induced fibrosis.
- Brain injuries, such as stroke and traumatic brain injury.
- Conditions associated with chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and autism.
Hyperbaric Therapy: How Much Does It Cost?
A hyperbaric therapy session can cost anywhere from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 10,000, depending on the clinic and the duration. The cost is usually calculated as a package for a certain number of sessions the patient may require.

On A Final Note...
Hyperbaric therapy is a safe and effective way to treat certain medical conditions. However, it is important to talk to your doctor before beginning a course of therapy to make sure it is the right choice for you.
