Health Benefits Of Sambar
Sambar can be seen as an Indian soup. It can be consumed along with idli, dosa or rice. But a healthy way to eat sambar is to eat it along with idli. If you want to eat it with rice, use brown rice as the GI (glycemic index) number of white rice is higher and that diminishes even the benefits of sambar. To be precise, sambar is a daily dish in the southern parts of India. In other parts of India and the world, it is consumed frequently but not so regularly.
Those who wish to enjoy a spicy dish and still enjoy some health benefits can choose sambar. Firstly, it is very easy to prepare it. Even if you don't know how to go ahead, you can simply buy some sambar at a nearby hotel or buy a pack of sambar mix from the grocery. At the end of the day, ensure that you prepare your soup with all the ingredients to enjoy the health benefits as well as its spicy taste.
Health benefits of sambar

It contains proteins
Lentils are rich in proteins. So, the lentil-based sambar is packed with various nutrients and proteins too. The good news is that, you can add your favourite ‘dal' or lentil if you wish to try something different or modify it a bit. Also, ensure that you add some green peas to it to enjoy the benefits of sambar.

It contains fibre
Sambar contains lots of fibre too. This is really one of the best health benefits of sambar. We all know the fact that fibre must be consumed regularly as it is good for health. Fibre also helps the digestive system. To enjoy the benefits of eating sambar, you can add fibre-rich vegetables to your sambar.

Its GI is low
Sambar's glycemic index is low as it comes with smaller amounts of bad carbohydrates. Those who suffer from diabetes can consume it after carefully preparing it with suitable ingredients. But it is better to choose idli-sambar over white rice. That would suit diabetics. In fact, that is one of the health benefits of idli sambar. It doesn't harm diabetics.

You can add sweet potatoes
If you love sweet potatoes, you can include them in sambar and enjoy the health benefits of sweet potatoes too. Those who wish to consume sweet potatoes can use this idea. Eating them in the raw form might be difficult. But when they are added to sambar, you can easily consume sweet potatoes.

You can add your favourite vegetables
Almost any vegetable can be added to sambar to pack it with nutrients. This is one advantage. Sambar contains onions, potatoes, carrots, beet roots, and peas. You can also add corn to it. Play around with the recipe and find your favourite combination of vegetables.
