Military Sleep Technique On TikTok: Can It Help You Fall Asleep In Under 2 Mins?
In case you're one of the many who struggle to fall asleep, you'll be delighted to know there is a technique currently circulating on TikTok that promises to make you fall asleep - in 10 secs!
Justin Agustin, who runs a popular YouTube channel, shared a video detailing a military sleep technique that is commonly used by the military to fall asleep in two minutes on TikTok.

"This technique was developed in the military to allow soldiers to fall asleep at any time, any place, even on the battlefield when the environment is extremely uncomfortable and there's a lot of noise happening - sleep for a soldier is crucial," he explains in the video [1].
As a prerequisite for successfully performing this trick, one must clear their mind. In order to clear your mind of stress, Agustin suggests two scenarios:
"You are lying in a canoe on a calm lake surrounded by a clear blue sky" or "You are lying in a black velvet hammock in a pitch black room."
What Is The Military Sleep Method?
The "military method," popularised by the U.S. Army and documented by Lloyd Bud Winter in his 1981 book Relax and Win: Championship Performance, is said to be a highly effective method for helping you drift off in as little as ten seconds, maximum of two minutes [2][3].
As you sleep, your body is working to support healthy brain function and maintain your physical health. Sleep also plays an important role in the development of children and teens. During sleep, your body releases hormones that help to regulate growth, development, and metabolism.

It also helps to support healthy brain function by allowing the brain to process memories and repair itself. Additionally, getting enough quality sleep is important for children and teens because it helps to support their physical, mental, and emotional development [4].
Steps To Do The Military Sleep Method
- Firstly, relax your entire face, including all your muscles and your tongue, from your jaw to the back of your mouth.
- Allow your shoulders to drop and your hands to fall to the side of your body in order to release any tension.
- Take a deep breath out, letting your chest relax and focusing on your breath. You should also allow your legs, thighs, and calves to relax naturally, allowing gravity to pull them down.
- Spend ten seconds imagining a relaxing scene. If this does not work, repeat the words "don't think" over and over.
- The process should take you no more than ten seconds, but at first, it may take up to two minutes.
Practising the method every day will help you to experience its full effects---expect to see amazing results within six weeks of practising the method.

On A Final Note...
Typically, individuals require eight hours of good-quality sleep per night to function properly.
Lack of sleep has been linked to a variety of medical conditions, including obesity, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
