Menstrual Hygiene Day 2023: How To Prevent Bad Odour From Pad?
Menstrual Hygiene Day is observed on 28 May every year. The day aims to highlight the importance of good menstrual hygiene management. It was initiated by the German-based NGO WASH United in 2014 and the date 28 was chosen to acknowledge that 28 days is the average length of the menstrual cycle.

World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2023 theme is 'making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030.' This being World Menstrual Hygiene Day, let's explore how to prevent bad odour from pads?
How To Prevent Bad Odour From Pad?
Pad odour can be a real issue during periods, especially during the hot and humid months. This can be embarrassing, especially if you're at work or school.
It is the bacteria on the surface of the pad that causes the odour and it thrives in moist, warm environments, so the hot and humid weather can make the problem worse.
Fortunately, there are several steps that you can take to reduce or eliminate bad odour from your pad.
Step 1
The first step is to ensure that you're changing your pad as often as needed so that it doesn't become saturated with sweat and bacteria. Generally, if you have a light flow, you should be changing your pad every 4-6 hours; if you have a heavier flow, you should be changing it every 3-4 hours.

Step 2
The second step is to make sure that you're washing your pad after each use. This will help remove bacteria that can cause odour. If you're using a cloth pad, be sure to use a mild soap and warm water to wash the pad; if you're using a disposable pad, be sure to throw it away after use.
Step 3
The third step is to make sure that you're storing your pad properly. Storing pads in an airtight container or bag will help keep the odour from building up. If you're using cloth pads, be sure to rinse and dry them thoroughly before storing them.
Other tips to prevent bad odour from pads include:
- Be sure to wash your hands before and after changing your pad. Keeping your hands clean will reduce the chance of introducing germs and bacteria into your pad.
- Use an unscented pad.
- Wear breathable underwear.

On A Final Note...
Be sure to change your pad regularly, keep your hands clean, use an unscented pad, and rinse your pads after use. Taking these precautions will help you keep your pads smelling fresh and clean and prevent any odour!
