While there is little to do about accidents apart from being careful posture is something we can control. Sitting in a slouching position and bending neck way too much while writing are two postures which often leave us with a sore neck.

Modern times and technological advancements have also contributed to the neck pain problem. Long hours of working on the mobile phone or tablet means keeping the head bent.
This puts immense pressure on the neck and spinal cord. What results is a terrible pain in the neck which can go down to the spine. Working on the laptop or placing the laptop above or below eye level can also be a contributing factor.
So what do you do when you suffer from a neck pain?

Massage: One of the most effective and instant result providing measures is a massage. When you are home from work or have suffered a bad journey through broken roads, potholes etc.
A massage can bring you instant relief from neck pain. The pain could be on the neck or a little lower but a soothing massage can bring about great relief.

Hot pack: Remember those hot water bottles that our grandparents used to use in winters. They provided great relief from the cold winter waves.
They are equally capable of getting rid of pains in joints, neck included. Now-a-days hot pads are also available that work on electricity. All that you have to do is connect the plug to a power source, place the pad on the neck and led it heat up. You can select different levels of warmth to suit your purpose.

Cold packs: Like hot packs cold packs are equally effective remedies for instant relief from neck pain. Earlier we used to get those ice pack bags but now there are gel packs available that can be stored in the fridge.
When you are suffering from pain place the gel pack on the affected area and let the pack do its job.

Rest: This is by far the simplest way to ease neck pain. Sadly not many of use seem to 'have time' for this. Work becomes so important that we fail to realise the importance of rest and continue working without taking time to give our necks that much required break.
