Insomnia, in general terms, is lack of sleeplessness. Chronic insomnia can lead to severe health problems, thereby it is necessary to pay proper attention to it. Now the question is, how would you know that you are suffering from Insomnia?

This is the best tip to cure insomnia. Avoid alcohol towards the evenings because it can make you feel drowsy but does not help in quality sleep.
Nicotine is a stimulant, thereby either stop smoking or avoid it at night. Avoid intake of caffeinated beverages atleast 8 hours before going to bed.
Cope With Shift Work
If you are working night or irregular shifts, you need to adjust your sleep-wake cycle such that you get sufficient quality sleep during the day. Limit the number of night or irregular shifts so that sleep deprivation does not keep mounting up and this is considered one of the best ways to cure insomnia.
Abdominal Breathing
Abdominal breathing is a great tip to cure insomnia. Close your eyes, inhale deeply with your nose and then exhale with your mouth. Repeat this several times before going to bed, to get rid of insomnia.
Muscle Relaxation
Another simple remedy to overcome insomnia is the muscle relaxation. Lie down comfortably and starting from your feet, tighten your muscles, hold on for few minutes and then relax. Continue this way up from your feet to your head.
Regular Sleep Schedule And Limit Naps
Fix a regular timing for your sleep, and even if it is a weekend, do not oversleep. This will help you get rid of insomnia. Limit short naps that you have during the day so that you get good sleep at night.

Make sure your sleeping environment is sound-free and dark. This helps you to relax & sleep early.
