Watch Less TV To Burn More Calories!

An electronic lockout system to reduce the television time by half without changing the calorie intake was given to those who participated in the study. It was found that over a period of three weeks, per person more energy was burnt than usual.
The participants underwent a three week observation period during which their daily TV time was assessed. A group of 20 individuals were randomly given an electronic device that turned off the television after they had reached a weekly limit of 50 per cent of their previously recorded TV time.
It was found that those who used the lockout systems burned 119 calories extra per day.
Also, the energy balance, that is the ratio of calories consumed to calories burned was negative.
The effects of reduced TV viewing timings should be further explored as a method to prevent obesity in adults.
