You might end up with fungus on your feet if you walk around barefoot in the gym. You might end up with fungus on your nails as well. Fungus can end up affecting the top, sides and bottom of your feet in the form of scaly white skin.

To prevent this, always wear shoes at the gym and keep your feet dry. Also use anti-fungal creams and lotions if you have been already affected by it.
Cold and flu viruses are believed to thrive for more than three months. In the gym you end up sharing all the equipments and hence are prone to suffer from these more frequently. To protect yourself from these viruses, make sure to wipe the equipment before using it.

Plantar warts is another thing that you can get if you walk around barefoot at the gym or through skin to skin contact. This is caused by the virus HPV. Make sure to see a doctor in such a case.

You could end up with E. coli or hepatitis A, a bacteria and a fungus if you are not careful at the gym. These are transferred through the faecal or oral routes. People who do not wash well after visiting the bathrooms could transfer it to the equipments in the gym and another person could pick them up.
These diseases cause diarrhoea, vomiting and cramps. In case you face such issues, make sure to visit a doctor as these might end up giving you trouble in the long run.
