Akshar Yoga Kendraa Sets 21 Guinness World Records On International Yoga Day 2026
This year on International Yoga Day 2026, Bengaluru-based Akshar Yoga Kendraa announced that it achieved 21 Guinness World Records, turning International Yoga Day into a global showcase of participation, discipline, and India's yogic heritage.
Led by Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, the initiative brought together thousands of participants and attempted an unprecedented number of world records in a single day.
A Record-Breaking Yoga Day
According to the organisation, more than 10,000 participants gathered in Bengaluru for the event, while people from over 80 countries joined the broader initiative.
The effort was aligned with the International Day of Yoga 2026 theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing," highlighting yoga's role in supporting physical and mental wellbeing across different stages of life.
Akshar Yoga Kendraa claims the achievement makes it the only organisation in the world to hold 21 Guinness World Records in yogasanas.
What Were The 21 Record Attempts?
The scale of the undertaking becomes clearer when you look at what was planned.
Organisers had announced:
- 20 Guinness World Record attempts involving yoga asanas in Bengaluru.
- One Global Online Tratak Meditation Guinness World Record attempt that allowed participants from around the world to join remotely.
Together, these formed 21 record attempts in a single day, making it one of the most ambitious yoga events organised on International Yoga Day.
Why This Achievement Stands Out
Yoga events often focus on participation numbers or mass demonstrations. What makes this initiative different is the sheer number of records pursued simultaneously.
Reports have described the effort as one of the largest yoga record-attempt campaigns ever organised. Coordinating thousands of participants across multiple disciplines while also running a global online meditation challenge required planning on a scale rarely seen in wellness events.
The achievement is also notable because it builds on the organisation's previous success. On International Yoga Day 2025, Akshar Yoga Kendraa had reportedly set 12 Guinness World Records. Moving from 12 records to 21 within a year represents a substantial leap in ambition.
Yoga's Global Reach On Display
One of the most striking aspects of the event was its international participation.
While the physical activities were centred in Bengaluru, the inclusion of the online Tratak meditation challenge opened the doors to participants across continents. With involvement reported from more than 80 countries, the event reflected how yoga has evolved from an Indian tradition into a global practice embraced by people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
The combination of in-person and digital participation also showed how large-scale wellness initiatives are adapting to connect people worldwide.
Support From Rakul Preet Singh
The achievement received support from actress and fitness enthusiast Rakul Preet Singh, who publicly congratulated Akshar Yoga Kendraa on the milestone.
Rakul has previously trained under Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar and has often spoken about the role of fitness and wellness in her life. Her endorsement added visibility to an event that was already attracting attention within the yoga community.
A Moment Of Pride For India's Yoga Movement
International Yoga Day has become a major global event since its introduction, but achievements like this highlight how the celebration continues to evolve. Whether viewed as a sporting challenge, a wellness initiative, or a cultural milestone, Akshar Yoga Kendraa's 21-record feat has sparked conversations about the growing scale and reach of yoga worldwide.
As with many large record-setting events, further details and official listings of the individual Guinness World Records are expected to attract interest in the coming weeks. For now, the initiative stands out as one of the most ambitious International Yoga Day efforts seen so far, bringing together thousands of people through a shared commitment to yoga and wellbeing.
