Lakme Fashion Week WF 2015: Gaurang Shah's Samyukta Revives Tradition
Inspired by the epic love story of Prithviraj Chauhan, King of Delhi and his wife Samyukta, Gaurang Shah presented his all new collection, Samyukta at the ramp of Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015.
The textile designer has used handloom weaves to the fullest in his collection and brought back the traditional silk red sarees and lehengas on the ramp.
Beautiful models dressed in gorgeous silk sarees and lehengas added a touch of tradition with center-parting low hair bun accessorised with gajra or long curled tresses left open. Vermilion and heavy jewellery including nose rings looked perfect!
Samyukta is bold and beautiful which is dominated by the traditional colour, red. Anarkalis, lehengas, kurtas, ghararas, farshis were shown on the ramp for the brides. We also saw lehengas which were draped with silk sarees like a dupatta.
Apart from rich hues of red, green and yellow were also used in his collection. Gaurang Shah also had menswear consisting of jamas, anghrakhis, chogas, sadris and achkans for the grooms.
Gaurang Shah used Rajasthani Kota, Banarasi silk, Patan Patola, Paithani in typical Maharashtra style, Khadi Jamdhani from Andhra, Ikat from Telangana and a variety of embroidery techniques were used from various states to create a breathtaking collection.
Coming to embroidery, Zardosi, Chikankari, kutch work, kasuti and embellishments dominated Samyukta collection in vivid prints including the Sawari (elephant with a carriage).
