New York-based fashion designer Chris Mena's gunny sack jacket collection is currently trending on the fashion radar. The talented designer showcased how an underrated material like a gunny sack or a burlap bag can be transformed into a fashion jacket.

Mena shared his creative process of crafting these designer jackets by picking some discarded burlap bags. To craft the fashionable ensembles, he used a 'DigiHeat heating machine and set the temperature at 350 degrees Fahrenheit to press the interfacing on the burlap bags to add sturdiness to the ensemble.
The next stage involved checking out the patterns, and he said they were working on a large size. He pulled out the pieces and cut the burlap sections. He cut the front of the bag and selected the words that he wanted to display on the jacket.

To add a trendy appeal, he ensured to create a pattern in such a way that the pattern or design on the gunny sack becomes visible for the aesthetic effect. The design of the jacket includes a polar fleece that is ideal for keeping the wearer during the winter season. The leather fabric used to create the collar added a fine contrast to the outfit collection. Chris Mena soured the leather from different leather factories and vendors that keep recycled leather.
The designer sewed the lining pieces' gunny sack and burlap bag together to design the trendy jacket. The range of the jackets starts from $2400 or Rs.2 lakh approx for the bigger jackets and the burlap bomber jackets range from $1,400 or Rs 1.16 lakh approximately for the M65s and around $750 or Rs 62,000 approximately) for the denim jackets.
