Love & War First Looks: Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and the Making of Bhansali's Next Epic

On 24 September, a single poster stopped Bollywood's timeline mid-scroll. Ranbir Kapoor stared out, battered and intense, marking Sanjay Leela Bhansali's first real introduction to Love & War, arguably the most-awaited Hindi film of 2027. A day later, on 25 September, Alia Bhatt followed - seated in a deep magenta-red ensemble, thigh-high slit skirt, an elaborate headpiece framing her face, the kind of image that looks lifted straight from a dance sequence.

Between the two reveals, the film's first cast pictures have done what Bhansali posters usually do: given the internet exactly enough to obsess over, and nothing more.

Two Reveals, 24 Hours Apart

Bhansali Productions kept Alia's character and the scene's context deliberately vague, letting the visual do the talking - a crop top, a bold headpiece, a rich retro-styled backdrop. The caption accompanying the poster read, "Aag bhi, dilon ki jaan bhi! Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War on 21st January 2027 See you at the movies!"

Fans responded in kind. "This looks absolutely breathtaking! The visuals and energy are on another level!" wrote one person online. Another called it "goosebumps already."

A Trio That's Never Shared A Bhansali Frame

Love & War brings together Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal for the first time under one Bhansali film, though the three aren't strangers to each other. Ranbir and Vicky previously shared screen space in Rajkumar Hirani's Sanju, while Alia and Vicky worked together in Meghna Gulzar's Raazi. Supriya Pathak also features in the cast.

For Bhansali, the film is a set of reunions. Bhansali is moving away from the period-driven worlds of Padmaavat and Gangubai Kathiawadi towards a contemporary backdrop, a shift that shows in the posters themselves, which lean glamorous and modern rather than ornately historical.

When And Where To Watch

The film is confirmed for a worldwide theatrical release on 21 January 2027, timed to the Republic Day weekend, and will open in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Two posters in, Love & War has already done its job: it has people talking without giving anything away. With Ranbir's intensity and Alia's fire now on record, the only look still missing belongs to Vicky Kaushal, and if the rollout so far is any indication, Bhansali isn't in a hurry to show his full hand.
