Every four years, sports enthusiasts worldwide eagerly await to see talented athletes perform their finest at the Olympics. July 26 is the day wherein the global competition will feature 117 participants from India give their best shot in their respective sports segments.

Now, it is necessary to perform well, it is also important to appear presentable at the ceremony. India's Olympics uniform for this year is a fine representation of 'creativity meets practicality'!

Who Designed India's Olympics Uniform?

Famous fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani, who co-owns TASVA with the Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail conglomerate, created the ceremonial outfit, while JSW Inspire designed India's playing uniform. "This ceremonial dress beautifully combines classic Indian style with a modern, athletic touch," Tahiliani said in response to a question about the design. Breathability and comfort are guaranteed by the lightweight moss cotton used in the creation of the kurta bundi combo. Reimagined in viscose crepe for a natural drape and breathability, the saree is a statement of grace and cultural identity that makes sure our athletes feel both stylish and comfortable.

Tradition Meets Contemporary Design

TASVA has incorporated a dash of contemporary design elements while adhering to tradition. The goal was to flaunt India's culture while making it comfortable for the athletes and not impede their movements. The athletes appear more graceful as a result.

The outfits are meticulously crafted from natural textiles, symbolizing both advancement and India's historical legacy. The design of the uniform seeks to inspire pride and showcase India's spirit to the world.

How Are Netizens Reacting?

Not everyone was impressed by the design, though. Reactions on social media were overwhelmingly negative, with many users dissatisfied with the uniforms' quality. A few expressed dissatisfactions with the way it was carried out and thought it was disrespectful to the athletes. Here's how the netizens reacted.

Despite the negative feedback, our athletes will don these uniforms at the July 26 opening ceremony and the August 11 closing ceremony. The outfits have been skillfully designed to include the colours of our flag, giving the entire Olympic campaign a sense of patriotism.
