Orange Zest Gojju Recipe - Popular South Indian Side Dish
It need not have to be curries, gravies and chutneys always, you can even try the popular south Indian side dishes like Gojjus with rotis, chapathis and rice. Gojju is similar to gravies and can be stored fresh for a very long time. Take a look at how to go about with the Orange Zest Gojju recipe. (Orange zest is good for digestion)
Orange Zest Gojju Recipe - South Indian Side Dish
Ingredients:
1. 1/2 cup orange zest
2. 1 tsp tamarind juice
3. 1 tsp jaggery
4. 5-6 curry leaves
5. 2 tsps groundnut oil
6. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
7. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
8. Salt to taste
For Masala:
1. 1/2 cup grated, coconut
2. 3-4 red chillies
3. 1/2 tsp bengal gram
4. 1/2 tsp black gram
5. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
6. 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
7. 1 tsp sesame seeds
8. Pinch of asafoetida
9. 1 tsp ground nut oil
Orange Zest Gojju Preparation:
1. Heat the oil in a pan and fry all the masala ingredients for at least 5-10 minutes.
2. Grind the fried mixture into thick paste.
3. In another pan, fry mustard seeds, orange zest, turmeric, curry leaves for 5-8 minutes. Add salt, tamarind juice, jaggery and ground paste. Bring it to boil.
4. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until the gojju thickens. Tasty orange zest gojju is ready to taste.
