Tasty Masala Dal Recipe
Aren't you bored of eating the same plain dal everyday? So, add a little favour and spices to your boring dal and make it interesting. If you are wondering how to go about it, then we are here to help you out with that.
Here is a delicious masala dal recipe which is a perfect option for your meals. Masala dal is a special dal recipe which is prepared with the combination of three different dals. This combination of the dals add a completely different flavour to this recipe. Also adding spices in the preparation of this dal recipe makes it all the more tempting.

So, try out this tasty and lip-smacking masala dal recipe. It is simple, quick and a perfect way to change your taste.

Cooking time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- Moong dal- 1 cup
- Chana dal- 1 cup (soaked in water for 1 hour)
- Masoor dal- ½ cup
- Onion- 1 (big sized, chopped)
- Tomatoes- 2 (medium, finely chopped)
- Ginger-garlic paste- 1tbsp
- Hing- a pinch
- Turmeric powder- 1tsp
- Red chilli powder- 1tsp
- Coriander powder- 1tsp
- Cumin powder- 1tsp
- Coriander seeds- 1tsp (crushed)
- Dry red chilli- 1 (broken)
- Salt- as per taste
- Oil- 2tbsp
- Water- 3 cups
- Coriander leaves- 2tbsp (chopped)
Procedure
1. Wash and clean all the dals thoroughly with water.
2. Pressure cook the dals with salt and water on medium heat. Wait for 4 whistles to blow.
3. Once the dals are cooked, switch off the flame and wait for the steam to be released completely.
4. Heat oil in a pan and add crushed coriander seeds, hing, dry red chilli. Cook for a minute.
5. Add the chopped onions and fry for 3-4 minutes.
6. Then add the ginger-garlic paste and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
7. Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and saute on medium heat for 4-5 minutes.
8. Now add the cooked dal and mix well.
9. Check the seasoning and add salt if needed.
10. Once done, switch off the flame and garnish the masala dal with chopped coriander leaves.
