Stuffed Idly Recipe For Breakfast
This morning we at Boldsky want you to try out something new and different. It is time you put to rest the normal dosas, rice idly and other sort of South Indian breakfast recipes aside.
We would love to introduce you to something called as the stuffed idly. This stuffed idly recipe is just as simple as the regular way of making idly. The stuffed idly contains a lot of healthy ingredients, enough to give you energy right through the day.
Here is how you make stuffed idly. Take a look at this breakfast recipe:

Serves: 3
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time:25 minutes
Ingredients
- Suji - 2 cups
- Curd - 1 cup
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Curry Leaves - 12
- Meetha soda - 1 tsp
- Oil - 2 tsp
- Salt to taste
For the Stuffing
- Peas - 1 cup (boiled)
- Potatoes - 1 cup (boiled)
- Chilli powder - ½ tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Coriander powder - ½ tsp
- Oil - 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
Procedure
- First make a batter out of the salt and curd with a little water.
- Keep the batter aside for an hour and cover it with a lid.
- In a bowl, smash the peas and the potatoes together to form a mixture.
- Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan and add in the alu, matar, salt, chilli powder, turmeric and corriander powder and fry the ingredients for a minute.
- Add to the ingredients the curry leaves and mustard seeds. Fry them together till cooked.
- Add to it the meetha soda and fry again for a minute or so.
- When the mixture is cooked, switch the flame off.
- Now take the batter and place half of the batter it in the idly mould with a drop of oil.
- On top of the half batter in the mould, place a little aloo stuffing in the middle.
- Now cover the stuffing with more idly batter and a drop of oil.
- Pressure cook the idly in the cooker.
- Wait for about 5 whistles to let the idly cook, on a low flame.
- After the whistles, switch the flame off.
- Wait for the pressure to come out and then open the lid.
Your stuffed idly is now read to eat. The best chutney which will go well with this yummy stuffed idly is tomato chutney.
