Healthy Falafel Recipe For Breakfast
Falafel is a traditional dish from the Middle East. It is basically a patty prepared with chickpeas. Traditionally falafels are eaten like snacks, topped with salad or dip. However they taste amazing with pita bread.
Apart from being a delight for your taste-buds, falafels are nutritious as well. Falafels are high in protein because chickpeas are a good source for protein. It also has a low fat content which makes it an ideal breakfast recipe to try. Since it is important to start the day with something healthy and tasty, falafels seem like the ideal option.

Preparation time: 8 hours
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- Chickpeas (Kabuli chana)- 2 cups
- Parsley- 2tbsp (chopped)
- Onion- 1 (finely chopped)
- Garlic- 4 cloves (chopped)
- Coriander seeds- ½ tbsp (crushed)
- Cumin seeds- ½ tbsp (roasted)
- Baking soda- a pinch
- Lemon juice- ½ tsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Oil- for deep frying
Procedure
1. Soak the chickpeas overnight in water or for 8 hours.
2. After 8 hours, drain the water from the chickpeas.
3. Take a mixing bowl and add the chickpeas, onion, parsley, garlic, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, baking soda, lemon juice and salt in it.
4. Mix well and grind the mixture in a mixer without water.
5. Take the ground mixture between your palms and shape it in the form of a tikki.
6. Heat the oil for deep frying.
7. Fry the falafels in the oil on medium heat till it turns golden brown from all the sides.
8. Once cooked, transfer the falafels on a tissue to soak the excess oil.
9. Serve hot with dip.
