Crispy Sooji Vada Recipe
Aren't you tired of the same old uddina vada and idlis? If you want to try out something different this morning for breakfast, then this recipe should be on your list. The sooji vada is crispy and yummy and guess what? It is safe for those who are on a weight loss or diet. Sooji has less number of calories when compared to the uddina vada. The only thing which doesn't beg to differ is the amount of oil which is used in the process of frying the crispy vadas.
To prepare this yummy breakfast treat, you should get the molding of the vada first. This is important so as to easily fry it. If you are conscious about the oil, try using ghee instead which is a lot healthier than oil.
Here is how you can prepare the crispy sooji vada this morning for breakfast:

Serves: 5
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 18 minutes
Ingredients
- Semolina/ Sooji - 1 cup
- Rice flour - 1/4 cup
- Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup (chopped finely)
- Curry leaves - 1/2 cup
- Green chillies - 5-6 ( chopped or sliced into thin strips)
- Onions - 2 (chopped)
- Salt to taste
- Oil/ Ghee for frying
Procedure
- In a bowl, mix the semolina or the sooji along with the rice flour. Make sure that the flour is mixed well with each other.
- When done, add in a little salt to the mixture.
- Now add to this a tablespoon of hot oil or ghee.
- Mix the flour well with the ghee or oil.
- To this, add in the chopped green chillies, the chopped onions, coriander leaves and the curry leaves. When you mix it, slowly add water to the bowl. Mix the ingredients to get a dough of consistency for vadas.
- Place it on the palm of your hand or use a plastic or waxed paper to check the consistency first.
- Using the same paper or your hand, make round circles forming vadas.
- When done, switch the flame for the oil to get heated.
- Drop the round sooji vadas into the hot oil and fry them delicately until it gets a little brown in colour.
Your crispy sooji vadas is now ready to eat. Enjoy this yummy breakfast along with idli.
