Masala Grilled Fish: With Mild Spices

Masala grilled fish sounds like a very spicy dish. Especially if you are told that this grilled fish recipe is prepared using Indian spices. But not all recipes that use Indian masala or spices are hot and spicy. Masala grilled fish is one of those rare Indian recipes that are not spicy yet tastes delicious.
Though a lot of garam masala is used to prepare this grilled fish recipe. But still, masala grilled fish is a healthy recipe because it uses very little oil. The spices used to make masala grilled fish includes coriander powder and dry mango powder also known as amchur.

Preparation Time: 45 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- Pomfret fish- 2
- Lemon juice- 3tbsp
- Onion- 1
- Ginger- 1 inch
- Garlic pods- 6
- Green chillies- 1
- Garam masala- 1tbsp
- Amchur or dry mango powder- 1tsp
- Coriander powder- 1tsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Oil- 1tsp
Procedure
- Slice the stomach of the fish from the side near its fins. Make a smooth and single cut to make a cavity to stuff masala.
- Rub the fish with salt and lemon juice all over and leave aside for 10 minutes.
- Grind onion, garlic, green chilli and ginger to form a thick paste.
- Mix garam masala, amchur and coriander powder to the thick paste uniformly.
- Marinate the fish with this masala. Also stuff some masala into the stomach of the fish. Leave aside for 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile preheat the oven to 250 degrees.
- Brush some oil on the marinated fish and place it on the grilling rods. Grill the fish for 20 minutes on 60 percent power.
- Turn the fish around in the middle of grilling to cook both sides well.
When the masala grilled fish is ready, serve it with salad or coleslaw.
