Most people like fish and dishes prepared using fish. Fish is a good source of nutrition for people of all ages. Fish gets cooked quickly and gets digested easily, making it a good option when looking for healthy and wholesome food.

One such non-vegetarian recipe that can be prepared easily is a fish cake. A fish cake is generally prepared using filleted fish and mashed potatoes. This tasty fish recipe can be frozen and used later.

Fish Cake Recipe – Healthy Snack Recipe

Ingredients for fish cake recipe:

  • Fish – 300 grams (scales and bones removed)
  • Potatoes (large) – 2-3 (skin removed)
  • Green chillies - 3-4 (or more if you want the fish cake to be spicier)
  • Ginger-garlic paste - ' teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - ¼ - ' teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - ' teaspoon
  • Pepper powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Breadcrumbs - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh coriander leaves – finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

How to prepare tasty fish cake?

  • Boil water (add salt) in a large pan. Add roughly chopped potatoes to this water.
  • Boil till the potatoes are half cooked.
  • Brush the fish with oil, salt and pepper. Wrap this fish with foil and place it in a colander.
  • Keep the colander in the boiling water and cook till both the potatoes and fish are well cooked.
  • Mash the potatoes and fish. Add the dry spices, finely chopped green chillies, ginger-garlic paste, salt and coriander leaves. Refrigerate this mixture for at least an hour.
  • Divide the mixture into equal portions shape them like cutlets. (these can be frozen for later use)
  • Dip this into egg and roll it on the breadcrumbs.
  • Deep fry till it turns golden brown. Drain off excess oil.

Serve it with spicy pudina chutney and crispy salad.
