Spicy Dal Gosht Recipe
If you are a mutton lover then you must have tasted many different mutton recipes till now. But this spicy dal gosht recipe is one of its kind. The specialty of this mutton curry is that it is cooked with two different types of lentils or dals. The presence of these dals add to a unique flavour to his mutton recipe which is sure to tickle your taste buds.
This spicy dal gosht, as the name suggests, is a combination of three things- fragrant spices, lentils and the mutton. The mutton is first cooked along with the spices which adds spicy flavour to the dish. Then it is cooked with the dal which not only adds to the consistency of the curry but also gives it a unique, lip-smacking taste.

Ingredients
- Chana dal- ½ cup
- Urad dal- ½ cup
- Mutton- 500gms (cut into medium sized pieces)
- Onions- 3 (sliced)
- Tomato- 1 (chopped)
- Cumin seeds- 1tsp
- Coriander leaves- ¼ cup (chopped)
- Mint leaves- 2tbsp (chopped)
- Ginger garlic paste- 2tbsp
- Coriander powder- 1tbsp
- Turmeric powder- 1tsp
- Cumin powder- 1tsp
- Red chilli powder- 2tsp
- Green chillies- 2 (slit)
- Crushed black peppercorns- 1tsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Garam masala powder- 1tsp
- Water- 4 cups
Procedure
- Wash the mutton pieces properly and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add the cumin seeds. Allow it to splutter.
- Add the sliced onion and fry for about 5-6 minutes on medium flame.
- Then add the mutton pieces to it and saute for another 5-6 minutes.
- Now mix in the chopped coriander and mint leaves. Saute for 3-4 minutes.
- Now add in ginger-garlic paste, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, green chillies, cumin powder, crushed black peppercorns and mix well.
- Then add the chopped tomatoes to the mutton and cook for 7-8 minutes on medium flame.
- Add the chana dal and urad dal. Mix well.
- Now add salt, garam masala powder and water. Mix all the ingredients well.
- Cover the pressure cooker with the lid and cook on low flame.
- Wait for 5-6 whistles to blow.
- Once done, switch off the flame and wait for the steam to come out completely.
- Open the lid and transfer the mutton to a serving platter.
