Easy Recipe for Chicken Bhuna

Chicken bhuna is a spicy and delicious non-vegetarian dish from North India. The key factor in this easy chicken bhuna recipe is that, the chicken is first grilled and then cooked with a lot of spices. In this recipe the chicken is cooked slowly which gives it a strong flavour and lip smacking taste. You can also serve this easy chicken bhuna recipe as a summer appetizer.

This recipe can be prepared in many different ways. But if you are looking forward to prepare an easy chicken bhuna dish at home, here is a simple recipe which you can try without much hassle.
Serves: 3-4
Preparation time: 1-2 hours
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
- Chicken- 1kg (cut into big pieces)
- Garlic- 12 cloves
- Whole dry red chillies- 10
- Cloves- 4
- Green cardamoms- 4
- Cinnamon- 2 inch stick
- Cumin seeds- 1tsp
- Yogurt- ½ cup
- Turmeric powder- 1tsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Mustard oil- 2tbsp
- Fresh coriander leaves- ½ cup (chopped)
Procedure
- Grind garlic, red chillies, cloves, cardamoms, cinnamon and turmeric powder to a fine paste in a mixer.
- Wash the chicken pieces thoroughly and pat dry using a paper towel.
- Marinate the chicken pieces by applying a teaspoon of oil and prepared paste to it. Keep it aside for 2 hours.
- After two hours, heat a tablespoon oil in a pan and fry the marinated chicken pieces for 8-10 minutes on low flame till they turn brown on all sides.
- Remove from flame and keep it aside.
- Now heat 3 teaspoons of oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds. Saute for another 2 minutes on medium flame.
- Add the fried chicken pieces, salt, yogurt and half a cup of water. Mix well.
- Close the lid and cook till two whistles blow. Once done, remove from flame and let it cool.
- Once the steam completely comes out, open the lid and take the chicken out in a pan.
- Stir fry this cooked chicken for 5 minutes till the masala coats the chicken.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
