Sonam Kapoor's Cannes look was expected to be sensational and desi this year. Until last year Sonam Kapoor's Cannes wardrobe was filled with fluttering gowns and slithering dresses. But at Cannes 2013, Sonam has decided to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema. Sonam walked the Cannes red carpet on day one in full Bollywood 'ishtyle'.

Cannes 2013 opened with the screening of The Great Gatsby. Sonam Kapoor wore a saree to this much waited screening. The saree that Sonam Kapoor wore was from Anamika Khanna's couture. It was a white lace saree that was worn with a shimmering white golden blouse. Over the saree, Sonam wore a long shrug like jacket. The train of the jacket trailed behind her giving the ensemble a gown like appearance.

While we loved Sonam Kapoor's saree, we loved her makeup and hairdo even more. Sonam Kapoor is at Cannes 2013 to represent L'Oreal and launch their new Sunset Collection that has been inspired by Bollywood. Sonam used the cosmetics from the Sunset Collection for getting a very dramatic makeup. She used kohl to draw her eyes out in the doe-style that was common in the 60s. She also used dark maroon lipstick and used brown hues to highlight her cheeks.

Sonam had her hair pulled back into a neat but fluffy bun. The bun was placed low on her crown.

For the press meet on day one of Cannes 2013, Sonam wore a saree inspired Huemn dress. She wore long Suhani Pittie earrings with this outfit. And her flat footwear was from Lanvin.

For the opening Gala dinner at Cannes, Sonam wore a pink lace embellished gown from Elie Saab.

But the main highlight of Sonam Kapoor's Cannes look was the huge nose ring she choose to wear. It was a diamond studded nose ring that gave her Indian look a very native ethnic appeal. She did not wear any heavy jewellery apart from the nose ring. Thus, her getup was not excessively loud. Sonam's long hair was tied back into a low bun to complete the look.

Before the sparkle of the Cannes red carpet, Sonam attended the Gala opening dinner wearing a pink dress from Elie Saab. The dress was made of embellished lace and was bright pink in colour. Earlier in the day, Sonam was spotted wearing a full-sleeved jacket from Anamika Khanna All in all, Sonam Kapoor's Cannes look was quite a success.
