Here are the skincare benefits of chocolate and 3 ways to use it for your skin.

Chocolate For Skincare: Benefits
Using cocoa powder regularly will help you achieve firm skin as it contains caffeine and theobromine, two compounds that are extremely beneficial for your skin.
The same reason, cocoa powder is considered beneficial for removing cellulite and tightening the skin is that it breaks down fats and reduces fluid retention in the skin, which results in firm, toned skin [1].
In addition, chocolate is packed with vitamins and minerals, such as Vitamin E, several B vitamins, as well as magnesium, calcium, iron and many more that help soothe the skin, and also provide protection against UV rays.
When used on the skin, all of these nutrients are absorbed by the skin and provide superior nourishment [2].
Using a nutrient rich chocolate facial mask can be beneficial for your skin in many ways. Skincare facial masks generally remain on the face for 15-20 minutes, which is enough for them to absorb excess oil produced by the sebaceous glands of the skin and maintain the moisture barrier of the skin by properly hydrating it during that time period [3].
Note: It is safe to use Cocoa Powder for Skin, and that too with the highest cocoa percentage you can find. Avoid using chocolate bars for skincare.

1. Chocolate face mask
Ingredients
- 70% cocoa
- ⅔ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
Directions
- Add cocoa powder to a bowl.
- Add salt, sugar, and milk and mix well.
- After it has cooled, apply it to your face and neck.
- Rinse it off after 15-20 minutes.
2. Chocolate-coffee face mask for dull skin
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 4 tablespoons coffee powder
- 8 tablespoons almond milk, yoghurt, or coconut milk
- 2 tablespoons coconut milk
Directions
- Put all the ingredients in a mixing bowl.
- Take a small amount of the pack and apply it to your face and neck.
- Let it sit for 20-30 minutes.
- Wash it off with cold water.

3. Chocolate-multani mitti face mask for oily skin
Ingredients
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons multani mitti (fuller's earth)
- 2 tablespoons plain yoghurt
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
Directions
- Combine all the ingredients thoroughly.
- Apply the mixture to your face and neck.
- Allow it to remain on for 15-20 minutes.
- Wash with cold water.
