Generally, the skin gets darker due to various reasons. It can be due to over exposure to the sun, environmental pollution, dry skin, stress, exposure to harmful cosmetic products and also a poor diet.
In order to get your skin to look natural, glowing and healthy, you can use the basic kitchen ingredients available to lighten your skin tone.

Yogurt
To brighten your skin instantly, all you need to do is to apply some plain yogurt topically on to your skin. Leave it on for about 10 minutes. Protein, calcium, vitamin D and probiotics present in yogurt help to moisturise the skin and prevent the early ageing signs as well.
Apple Cider Vinegar
This contains glycol that acts as a skin-lightening agent. Make a mix of two parts of water, one part of apple cider vinegar and scrub your face using this. The acidity of the vinegar helps to reduce skin impurities through the exfoliation process. Try this trick at least twice in a week for effective results.
Oranges
Oranges also have bleaching properties that help to lighten the skin tone and reduce blemishes. For best results, you can mix dried and powdered orange peel with yogurt to make a paste. Apply this on to your face as a mask and leave it for 15 minutes before washing it off.
Papaya
Papaya helps to lighten, brighten and tighten your skin. As it is rich in vitamins A, E and C, and alpha-hydroxy acids, it helps to avoid the early ageing process. For best results, mash a few pieces of papaya with a few drops of water and apply the paste at least three times in a week.
Milk
The lactic acid present in milk helps to diminish the skin pigmentation, leading to a brighter complexion. Soak a washcloth in cold milk and rub it over your entire face. Wash it after 15 minutes. Do this every night before you sleep, as it helps to brighten up the skin tone instantly.
Honey
Honey is a great moisturising agent, and it is also helps to bleach the skin. The more hydrated your skin is, the more even your skin tone will be. Since honey is rich in antibacterial properties, age spots and acne scars get reduced drastically and can be treated effectively. Simply apply pure honey to your face and rinse it off after several minutes.
Lemon
The acidity present in lemon helps to bleach the skin. All you need to do is to dip a towel in freshly squeezed lemon juice and dab it on to your skin directly. Leave the lemon juice on for about an hour and then rinse it off with some cold water.
Turmeric
This is a magical herb that helps to treat acne, reduces oily residue, helps to moisturise your skin and prevents wrinkles and stretch marks from appearing, apart from brightening the skin tone. Mix 1/4th teaspoon of turmeric powder in a teaspoon of milk and honey. Mix well and apply this mask. Leave the mask to dry for about 10 minutes and wash it. It helps to brighten the skin tone.
