Sugar dehydrates the skin
Sugar sucks out all the water from the skin cells and leaves it dehydrated. This causes the skin to sag and it looks undernourished. Hence, if you are a person who consumes a lot of sugar, you should drink large quantities of water in order to stay hydrated and prevent your skin from sagging.

Sugar damages your skin
Sugar damages the collagen beneath our skin. Collagen is a substance present in our body that holds the skin together and keeps it firm. The glucose present in sugar weighs down the collagen and also breaks Type 3 (strong type) collagen to Type 1 (weak type) collagen and weakens it.

This causes our skin to lose its elasticity and age faster. As our skin becomes weak, it also succumbs to the harsh effects of pollution and damage caused by UV rays.

Sugar causes skin inflammation

The glucose present in sugar makes the collagen present underneath the skin rigid. It attaches itself to the collagen and prevents it from functioning properly.

Thus when collagen stops working properly, our skin loses its elasticity and this causes wrinkles and lines. It also causes our skin to sag and often there is a breakout in the form of acne. This also results in skin inflammation or rashes.
