Does Swimming Tan Your Skin?

The summer heat is making the mercury rise and your swimming clothes must be already out. There are few activities that relax us as much as swimming in the summer. A dip in the cool pool is one of the best ways to beat the summer heat. But do you find yourself developing a perpetual tan after leaving the swimming pool? That brings us to the inevitable question, does swimming tan your skin?
Many people have what we call the swimming pool tan. While some choose to sit on tanning beds for getting a brown tan, some swimmers just get the tan as an added problem. Proper skin care after swimming is essential. If you do not take proper precautions to prevent the swimming pool tan, you will end up looking as red and burnished as lobster by the end of summer.
HOW HYGIENIC IS YOUR SWIMMING POOL?
Skin tanning in summer is a common problem. But it is important to answer the question does swimming tan your skin. This is because, many people love to swim in the summers and they need to understand how they can prevent or reverse the effects of the pool on their skin. So here are some reasons why swimming does tan your skin and also what you can do to prevent it.

Exposure To Sunlight
Not all swimming pools are covered. Some pools are open air and thus expose you directly to the sun light. This can lead to skin tanning. The solution is to slap on lots o water-proof sunscreen lotion before you get into the pool.

Chlorine
All swimming pools use chlorine to maintain the hygiene of the pool water. But chlorine is very bad for skin. It can aid tanning and also dries your skin from inside. There are a couple of things you can do to reverse the effects of chlorine on your skin and they are..

Thorough Bath After Swimming
Take a long and thorough shower after leaving the pool. Use a good soap to get rid of the chlorine left over on your skin after you come out of the pool.

Use Lots Of Moisturiser
When you skin is still damp after a bath, it absorbs more of the moisturizer. So use generous amount of skin softening lotion after you shower.

Tomato For Tan
Citric acid is the best cure for a swimming pool tan. And you will find lots of naturally occurring citric acid in tomatoes. Rub tomato on your skin to get rid of the tan.

Drink Water n Fresh Juices
Never forget that swimming is an exercise, so while you are in water you are still losing body fluids. The chlorine in the pool will dry your skin. So keep drinking water and fresh fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated.

Banana Face Pack
Banana is particularly helpful in removing skin tan naturally. So if you need an instant glow after swimming, you should make face pack out of mashed bananas and honey. It hydrates your skin and makes your skin glow.

Damp Skin Care
Swimming tans your skin because staying in the water for so long makes your skin very tender. Even slight exposure to sunlight can damage your skin after you leave the pool. So use sunscreen lotion even after you swim and do not go out in direct sunlight after leaving the pool.
