Tips To Prevent Dry Skin In Summer
The sultry weather can be a bane by itself and to make matters worse, it affects the skin which if ignored can take a heavy toll on skin. In summer, dry skin could be caused due to dehydration, ultra violet rays of the sun, pollution, dust and also due to exposure to air conditioned rooms and sweating. Although there is a plenty of Vitamin D available through sunlight, overexposure could have it's own effects on the skin.
Even if you are not exposed to direct sunlight, passive exposure like driving a car or walking towards your car could also cause skin irritation and dry it up. Care for dry skin during summer may seem challenging, but it can be fixed with the right kind of remedies.
Here are a few tips to prevent dry skin during summer and care for it.

Moisturise your skin- Soon after a shower, pat dry the body and apply a light and non-greasy moisturiser and a sunscreen before venturing out of your home.
Avoid air condition- It is a general tendency to use the AC in summer, but AC can suck up all the moisture in the body, thus leaving it dry. Try using the fan as much as possible and keep the AC to a moderate level.
Exfoliate- Using a natural scrub like that of almond, walnut and apricot not only rids you off blackheads, but also restores moisture in the skin and keeps it supple. For a homemade scrub; grind 3-4 almonds and mix it with yogurt and massage your face in clockwise and anti-clockwise direction. Wash off with cold water. Repeat this twice a week.
Hydration- This is the most common skin care tip that you must strictly follow during summer. Drinking coconut water, cucumber juice, watermelon and orange juices. This hydrates your body by balancing, and distributing the moisture throughout the body.
Face pack- A natural and fruity pace pack can restore moisture in your skin and add glow to your face.
Here are a few homemade face packs that would help combat dry skin problems-
Mash half a banana, add a teaspoon of honey and yogurt to it. Apply it on to face and wash after fifteen minutes.
Squeeze orange juice and add a teaspoon of honey and apply it on your face. Set for ten minutes and wash it with lukewarm water. (You can also apply coconut water instead of orange juice).
Mix a teaspoon of sandalwood powder/paste with 1/2 a teaspoon of rosewater. Apply this face pack on your face to prevent dryness of the skin and avoids acne. It also reduces the blemishes, sun tan and scars.
