Role Of Astaxanthin In Skin Care

Astaxanthin Skin Care
Beneficial antioxidants like astaxanthin are more than just a boon to skin care. The brightly colored carotenoid member that occurs in an array of living organisms like sea creatures and algae does all that needs to have the best skin.

Astaxanthin has a free radical scavenging ability that helps in protecting the body against lipids that increase LDL-cholesterol and oxidative damage. The carotenoid also strengthens cells, their membranes and tissues.

An algae called Haematococcus contains astaxanthin and is the main source of food for marine animals like shrimp, salmon, crabs, and lobster. Every dry kilogram of the algae contains nearly 30g of astaxanthin. With millions of free radicals attacking skin leading to fine lines, wrinkles and dry skin, the red pigment is much needed. It helps in fighting back these free radicals and prevent the breaking down of the cell structures.

Role Of Astaxanthin In Skin Care -

The carotenoid member, like vitamin E, is a kind of lipophilic antioxidant. It means that the red pigment is fat-soluble, which is why it exerts its antioxidant properties in cell membranes and tissues that are lipid rich. Research has shown that it can improve the appearance of skin in many ways including:
It reduces the diminish appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
Hydrapes skin.
Reduces dark circles and puffiness around the eyes
Gradually cures inflammation
Helps in restoring a single skin tone. (even, smooth pigmentation)
