What Makes Your Hair Dry?
Most of us are worried by dry hair problems. It is more important to know the reasons for having dry hair before you start looking for its remedies. This way you can better understand the root of all the problems and try to avoid them as much as possible. Here are some of the major causes for dry hair.

Shampooing- Shampooing your hair is very important, but at the same time this very habit can make your hair dry and brittle. If you shampoo your hair too often then it strips your hair off all the natural oils and makes it dry. Also harsh chemical shampoos are bad for the hair as they damage the hair follicles. This causes irreversible damage to the hair and it loses its natural lustre.
Pollution- Pollution happens to be one of the major reasons behind hair problems as such. We have to spend most of the time outside our homes. As a result we are exposed to pollution and dirt. The pollution and dust causes much damage to the hair follicles and cuticles due to the chemicals present in them.
Food- The food that you eat is greatly responsible for the type of hair you have. If you drink lots of water and fruit juices regularly then that keeps all the skin tissue on the scalp and the rest of the body hydrated. The hair draws nourishment from the scalp. Hence it too remains healthy and well hydrated. Whereas if you do not drink enough water or have fruits then you hair is more prone to become dry.
Chemicals- The application of too many chemicals like hair dye or a hair spray also causes too many hair problems.; dry and brittle hair being some of them. They destroy the outer natural protective layer of the hair and it becomes more prone to damages. This way your hair turns dry and damaged in the due course of time.
Diseases- Dry hair might be the result of some diseases that you have suffered from or are still suffering. Diseases like thyroid, malnutrition or cancer may result in dry hair problems. So, it is better that you consult a doctor in such cases.
Oil Glands- The hair becomes oily or dry also because of the oil secretion by glands in our body. If for some reason they are not able to produce enough oil to keep your hair moisturised, even then you might have hair problems like dry and brittle hair.
All of the above are some of the causes of dry hair. If you know any other reason, do share with us.
