Benefits Of Soursop (Ramphal) For Skin And Hair

Have you heard about the soursop fruit before? Soursop is a green coloured fruit that is also known as graviola or ramphal in India. When the fruit ripens, it turns soft, which is the perfect time to use this on skin and hair.

Due to medicinal properties found in soursop or ramphal, it is widely used in treating incurable diseases like cancer and it also has several health benefits. Not only health; but using soursop can also help to treat many skin and hair care problems.

1. Treats Itchy Skin

Due to antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties found in soursop, it can help to calm the irritation and itching of the skin. Regular application of soursop can help to treat skin itchiness and also promote a healthy skin.

In order to use soursop on the skin, take 3-4 spoons of soursop pulp. Add one spoon of honey and one spoon of yogurt to it. Mix them together and apply it on the affected part. Massage for some time and wash off with lukewarm water.


2. Treats Acne

Soursop is one among the effective remedies that can help to heal acne. Due to antibacterial properties found in this fruit, it can help to heal the skin and promote cell regeneration.

In order to heal acne with soursop, you need to take 1-2 spoons of soursop pulp. Now add two spoons of milk, one spoon of aloe vera gel and ½ a pinch of turmeric. Mix them together and apply this on the acne or the affected region. Allow it to dry and then wash off with cold water.


3. Anti-ageing Benefits

If you want to get rid of wrinkles, fine lines and other ageing signs effectively, include soursop in your daily skin care routine. Soursop contains antioxidants that play a major role in killing the free radicals that are responsible for these ageing signs.

Take a few spoons of soursop pulp and add one spoon of aloe vera to it. Add one drop of lavender essential oil and massage your skin with this mask. Massage in a circular motion for 15 minutes and wash off with cold water.


4. Treats Skin Rashes And Eczema

As we have previously mentioned, soursop contains antiviral and antibacterial properties which help to prevent any kind of skin infection. If you are suffering from skin infection or eczema, you should massage some soursop paste on the affected area. If not paste, using soursop water on the affected region can also alleviate the problem easily.


5. Treats Hyperpigmentation

Soursop contains a high amount of Vitamin C and ascorbic acid that play a major role in promoting the skin's glow and treat a hyperpigmented area. In case you have an uneven skin tone bothering you, hyperpigmented area or sun tan, using soursop on the skin is the best remedy. In order to treat the pigmentation, mix equal amount of soursop juice and coconut oil. Massage your face with this and leave it overnight. Wash off in the morning and pat dry.


6. Treats Itchy And Sweaty Scalp

The itchy and sweaty scalp can be one among the common beauty problems we suffer from throughout the year. Sweaty scalp may often lead to an awful odour being released from the scalp. Well, in order to prevent excessive sweating, you can use soursop. Take one soursop and cut it into pieces. Now boil these in water for some time and collect the water in a separate bowl. Allow it to cool down. Use this soursop water as an after-rinse to treat itchy and sweaty scalp.


7. Treats Head Lice

Soursop is an excellent ingredient that can help to treat head lice. Head lice can affect your scalp and hair adversely and hence getting rid of it is very important. In order to get rid of the lice, take 1-2 pieces of soursop and blend them to make a thick paste. Add one spoon of fenugreek seed paste and one spoon of neem paste to it. Apply this hair mask and leave it for 10 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water later.


8. Treats Dandruff

Soursop can promote a healthy scalp by eradicating dandruff easily. Use soursop paste or soursop water to treat this issue, as it contains antibacterial properties that play a major role in the eradication of dandruff flakes from the scalp. Using a decoction of soursop can help to get rid of dandruff and also unclog the pores on the scalp. Use this thrice in a week to get best results.
