Dhanurasana: Bow Pose

As the name suggests, when Dhanurasana is assumed, the body takes the shape of a bow and hence the name.

Step1: Lie flat on your stomach

Step 2: Bend your knees and hold your ankles

Step3: Inhale and raise your knees and upper body from the ground. Arch your back as you lift your knees further up. Breathe normally in the pose. Hold the pose for 10-30 seconds.

Alternatively, in the pose you can rock back and forth.

Benefits:

  • Strengthens the back and abs
  • Removes mid backache
  • Strengthens shoulders & arms

  • Precautions:

  • Those suffering from lower back ache must not practice this
  • Those suffering from Cervical pain must not practice this.
