Osho's Inspiring Short Story On Following Dogmas

Inspiring Story
“The path and the goal and the stages, they are just to help you, so don"t take them dogmatically and don"t take them literally.," says Osho. An inspiring short story conveys the aforesaid truth.

Two disciples were under the guidance of a master. The disciples were constantly competing with each other to impress the him. One summer afternoon when the master wanted to take a nap, the disciples as usual competed to serve him. The master in order to bring about a solution, asked one to massage his left side of the body and the other his right side. Hence they drew a line on his body, dividing it into two halves. They then started massaging the master's body, warning each other of transgression.

The master enjoyed undisturbed sleep, until he unconsciously put his right leg on the left. The person who was serving him on the left said, “Take away your right leg! You are trespassing"

The person who was massaging the right side said, “I cannot! I did not put it on your leg. If you want to remove it, do so and just see what happens after that!"

At that moment, the master woke up an enquired them of the matter.

The disciples just said, “You need not interfere. Just go to sleep. We will handle the issue ourselves!"

Osho says that one has to penetrate the dogmas and capture the essence, keeping in mind the underlying purpose. They are not to be followed blindly.
