10 Foods To Help Kids Gain Weight
Is your child not gaining weight in spite of feeding him/ her with all kinds of foods? If so, then you must be choosing the wrong kind of foods for your kids! During childhood, it is extremely important that you feed your kid with a healthy and balanced diet.
Being underweight is a common problem among kids these days. The most obvious reason is that the children these days have become picky eaters. And you cannot force your kids to eat anything nutritious against their will. What we need to understand here is, a poor weight gain in your kids is not a disease. It generally occurs when your kid does not consume the right amount of calories and nutrients that are required for the proper growth.
Kids create a lot of fuss when it comes to eating vegetables, fruits and dairy products. All of these foods are very essential for the growing kids as they contain high amount of calories and nutrients.
A balanced diet for your growing kid must include starchy carbohydrates, lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, a low intake of saturated fats and animal fats. Also make sure your child does not consume aerated drinks or fried foods oftenly as apart from being high in calories they are also very unhealthy. Instead look for healthier substitutes like grilled or baked foods and fruit juices.

Avocado
This fruit in high in calories and provides 'good fat' which is necessary for your child's mental and physical development. Prepare a milkshake by mixing avocado, milk and a little sugar.
Dairy Products
Dairy products are an excellent source for your growing kids. They contain calcium which is essential for bones and also the right amount of calories for weight gain in kids. Dairy products contain high amounts of saturated fats so make sure you do not make your kid overeat.
Eggs
Eggs are high in protein. They are a wonder food for kids who need to gain weight. One egg contains about twenty six grams of protein. So, prepare scrambled egg or boiled egg for breakfast as it is one of the favourite foods of kids.
Peanut Butter
Peanut butter is high in protein as well as fats. It is an energy food which helps your kid to gain weight fast. Peanut butter is healthy as well as tasty. So, you will not have a tough time in making your kids eat it.
Lean Meat
Meat is a great source of proteins, calcium and fats. It also provides the needed carbohydrates required for proper growth and weight gain. So, sandwiches with fillings of lean meat can be an excellent meal option for your kids if you want them to gain weight.
Sweets
No, we are not talking about the colourful candies which your kids love to eat. The trick is to choose the right kind of sweets which are high in calories and also provides nutrition. The examples of nutritious sweets can be banana smoothies, fruit rolls, dry fruit pudding etc.
Pasta With Olive Oil
Pasta cooked in olive oil makes the dish loaded with carbohydrates and essential fats. This is an excellent food for kids who are picky eaters as it is not only healthy but also delicious.
Dry Fruits
Dry fruits are filling and have enough calories to add the extra kilos to your kid. Dry fruits like cashews, almonds, raisins etc. are also an excellent option for healthy snacking. If you want to make your kid gain weight then make sure you give them small portions of dry fruits everyday.
Cereals
Multi-grain cereals is a perfect food if you want your kid to gain weight. Cereals contain the balanced amount of carbohydrates, fats and calories needed for the proper growth of your children. Add milk to the cereal of your kid's choice to make it more nutritious and tasty.
Bread
Dense breads such as those made with black rye or oats are high in calories. Most kids are used to having white bread. So, you may introduce these breads along with a dip or ketchup to make it more interesting for the kids.
