Lycra or spandex material is found in every wardrobe. The elastic fabric or material is used in undergarments, swimsuits and sports wear. It is very difficult to wash and maintain lycra clothes as it loses the stretch and elasticity after every wash. To maintain the quality and elasticity of lycra clothes, here are few tips to wash them.

Tips to wash and maintain lycra clothes:

1. Always read the fabric level to get instructions. Few lycra materials spoil after being washed. So, always read the label before washing lycra clothes.

2. Wash lycra clothes separately in cold water. Hot water can spoil the elasticity of the fabric. Use a mild detergent to wash lycra clothes.

3. Don't use a brush to remove stains from lycra clothes. Use a wet cotton cloth to rub the stains before washing. You can add few drops of white vinegar in the cotton cloth and rub on the stains. This is a simple method to remove stains from clothes without spoiling the quality.

4. Use a fabric conditioner after washing the lycra clothes to maintain its quality and colour.

5. Never wring lycra clothes to remove excess water after washing. Hang the lycra clothes in a hanger or you can dry in machine.

6. Dry the lycra clothes under partial shade. This maintains the elasticity of the lycra clothes and also protects the colour.

7. Never iron lycra clothes if you want to maintain its elasticity and quality. This is why you should not wring the clothes after washing. This method prevents the cloth from getting wrinkles.
