Are You Having A Healthy Men's Day?

A stitch in time saves nine. This old saying may not be the most hearty way of wishing you Men's Day but it is certainly the most prudent. Regular health checks are the only way to stay healthy in the busy hum drum of our urban lifestyles. But unfortunately most men and even women for that matter ignore this fact.

Today, that is 19th November is celebrated as International Men's Day. It is a day for men to enjoy. But as we always remind women to take care of their health on Women's day, the same goes for men. On this Men's Day, Boldsky gives you a list of various health checks that you need to get regularly.

Men's Day

1. Blood Sugar: Diabetes is not specifically a men's health issues. It is a modern epidemic that is attaching both men and women at an alarming rate. But on Men's day we would extend this piece of advice especially to men. Have a regular blood sugar test to detect diabetes at its roots.

2. Stress Test: Most men underestimate stress. It can effect you in ways that you cannot even imagine. Stress hormones play havoc with your body and is a silent killer. A stress test is the most important health check you need to keep in mind to ensure good health.

3. Blood Pressure: It is not like you will check your blood pressure only when you can see some symptoms. You should keep a regular track of your blood pressure. Sometimes your blood pressure might spike momentarily due to stress and then come back to normal. That momentary spike is enough to cause a cardiac arrest.

4. Cholesterol: We all know that men are prone to heart attacks. The root cause of this is very simple. Men tend to deposit cholesterol or bad fats in their arteries much more when compared to women. This results in high blood pressure, hardening of arteries and blockages. Your master health check up every year must include cholesterol and triglyceride count. You can control cholesterol by exercises and diet control.

5. Heart Raet: Most of us confuse our heart rate with blood pressure. It is not the same. Your heart rate or pulse rate is the number of times your heart beats in a minute to pump blood. The heart rate increases when we are indulged in physical activities. But your resting heart rate (when you are just lying down or resting) tells you how hard your heart is pumping blood. If it abnormally high, then it is surely a topic of concern.

6. Lung Power Test: If you are a smoker then this test is a 'must' for you. It tells you how powerfully your lungs can pump air. Most of us do not use even half the power of our lungs. Thus we end up with respiratory disorders later in life.

7. Fitness Test: Your fitness is also a health check for you. It tells whether or not your muscles are losing its tenacity. This test can be done either at a gym or hospital.

Have a rocking Men's Day this year. But no celebration can be complete if you are not in a good health. So at the back of your mind, you must have this list of health checks on a top priority.
