Farhan Akhtar is the new talk of the town. The actor is widely being appreciated for his performance in his latest film, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The movie is based on the real life of Indian athlete, Milkha Singh. Farhan Akhtar has worked really hard to get this athlete physique.
If you look at the before and after pics of Farhan Akhtar, you can clearly see the difference. Farhan Akhtar has got the perfect six pack abs. He has done a lot of workout to get the athlete physique like Milkha Singh. Farhan started working out from November 2011 with a one-hour-a-day regimen, four days a week. It gradually increased to six hours a day, and six days per week.
Farhan Akhtar's trainer Samir Jaura and coach Melwyn Crasto have made the young guy energetic and well built! Farhan has played two roles in the movie; one as a bulky soldier and another as a thin & active athlete. To get the perfect athlete body, Farhan Akhtar followed a strict healthy lifestyle especially sleep routine. He went to sleep at 10 pm and woke up early by 5:30. Two hours workout for three times in a day, and a strict diet is the secret behind Milkha Singh like body of Farhan Akhtar.
Sprints, drills and flexible exercises were used by Farhan to get the perfect athlete body. In short, weight training, functional training and athlete training were done by Farhan Akhtar. Here are the diet and fitness secrets of Farhan Akhtar.
Diet & Fitness Secrets Of Farhan Akhtar:
Diet
Farhan Akhtar's diet secrets included fruits and vegetables. He left roti, rice and bread completely. For bulky soldier's role, Farhan had 3,500 calories a day and five litres of water. For the athlete's role, he reduced to 1800 calories.
Breakfast
Farhan had orange juice, omelette of six egg whites and mushrooms without salt, as water retention would make the body look fluffy.
Oatmeal
After two hours, Farhan Akhtar had oatmeal with skimmed milk and then 30 minutes later, he had tender coconut water to stay hydrated and energetic.
Lunch
Farhan's food was especially made with olive oil. He had grilled chicken, sauted broccoli, asparagus, beans, baby cabbage and pak choi (Chinese cabbage). Two hours later, he had protein shake.
Berries
Berries were the only fruit that Farhan Akhtar had in order to get this body. Berries are low in GI and rich in antioxidants.
Moong Salad
Evening snacks were also healthy for Farhan Akhtar! His diet chart had low dressing moong salad or boiled channa.
Dinner
Farhan had a light dinner and used to drink protein shake before going to bed.
Sleep Routine
Farhan stopped late night parties. He went to bed at 10 pm and woke up at 5:30 am to go for fitness training. He did 2 hours workout for three times in a day to get this perfectly toned physique.
Athlete Training
At 6:30 am in the morning, Farhan Akhtar used to go for training with coach Melwyn Crasto. He used to do one-and-a-half hours of sprints and flexibility exercises.
Drills & Running
Farhan Akhtar's fitness secret is drills and running. To bring in the monotony of running, he practiced drills to improve his body movements and run like a professional runner.
The ABC
The drills are referred to as ABC of running; A works on knee drive, B on leg extension and C with pull through.
Functional Training
After taking rest for 6 hours, his functional training used to start. In functional training, you work against gravity with the help of your body weight just like climbing on a rope.
Abdominal Exercise
One-and-a-half hours of ab crunches was a must to get this physique. Farhan did 12 sets of ab crunches. One set included 200 repetitions which means he did 2,500 repetitions in a day!
Weight Training
For the first six months, Farhan did Hypertrophy Strength Training (HST) and Tabata which naturally increases muscle growth. So, there was no steroid for getting this body!
What He Missed
Farhan Akhtar's diet and fitness secrets are known now! Farhan missed gulab jamun and ice cream to get this physique. However, every 15 days, he used to hide and have lassi!
