Split peas soup recipe:

Ingredients

1 ' cups dried split green peas, rinsed
1 chopped onion
1 diced carrot
1 stick chopped celery
1 small russet potato cut into pieces
2 garlic cloves
salt
grounded black pepper
4 cups fat-free and low sodium chicken or a vegetable broth
2 cups water

Directions to make low fat split green peas soup recipe-

1. Heat little canola oil in a large pot and saute garlic, onion, carrot and celery for 3-5 minutes until it softens.

2. Add potatoes, broth, water, salt, pepper and dried split peas. Bring it to boil for 5 minutes

3. Cover the pan and simmer at intervals for 45 minutes in a low medium flame.

4. Cool the soup and blend it in the blender to make a thick and smooth paste.

The low fat split peas soup is ready. Serve it hot with a bread or bread stick.
