Crispy Onion Rings In The American Way!

Who can stop relishing the hot and crispy onion rings that are most common in the American food counters. They aren't very difficult to home make and even kids will love it. The onion rings are dipped in batter and deep fried, go very well with chilled beer too so have a look at the easy making.

The Japanese bread crumbs called panko are used to make these onion rings but even normal bread crumbs can be used for the same.

American Appetizers: Crispy Onion Rings

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
  2. 1/4 cup cornstarch
  3. 2 tsp mashed potatoes
  4. Big pinch of cayenne (red chilli powder)
  5. 1 cup club soda (chilled)
  6. 2-3 cups panko (Japanese-style breadcrumbs/ normal bread crumbs)
  7. Salt to taste
  8. vegetable oil for frying
  9. 2-3 onions (cut into rings)

Preparing The Spicy Snack:
1. Sift cornstarch, flour together and add mashed potatoes, cayenne, salt and club soda. Prepare a smooth batter (pancake batter consistency). Leave it aside for 10 mins.

2. Pour breadcrumbs into a shallow dish.

3. Using a fork, dip the onion rings in the batter and then toss in panko until the breadcrumbs get coated both sides.

4. Deep fry the onion rings until golden brown. Tasty american appetizer is ready.

Serve the crispy onion rings with sauce or mayonnaise.
