Paneer Tikka: Low Fat Eid Recipe

Paneer tikka is a pretty famous Indian snacks. But usually we treat it at par with spicy, oily junk food. Why should the goodness of milk in paneer be wasted due the lack of a proper paneer tikka recipe? Usually Eid recipes are elaborate with lots of spices and unnecessary calories fit for the festive season. But with the kind of lifestyle we have now where we are compelled to work 10 hours a day and even on weekends, get no time for work outs and are totally stressed out, we need to watch the calories we consume. So modified for our modern times we have this paneer tikka recipe that will take care of your health concerns as well as your taste buds.

Ingredients For Paneer Tikka:

1. Paneer - 300 grams (cut into medium sized pieces)
2. Capsicum - 1 (chopped into medium sized pieces)
3. Onions - 2 (chopped into four halves)
4. Ginger garlic paste - 2 tablespoons
5. Tomato - 1 (chopped into 4 halves)
6. Vinegar - 1 tablespoon
7. Green chillies (paste) - 1 tablespoon
8. Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
9. Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
10. Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
11. Chaat masala - 1 teaspoon
12. Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
13. Salt as per taste

Procedure For Paneer Tikka:

  • Marinate the paneer pieces with vinegar, ginger garlic paste, green chilli paste, red chilli, cumin, coriander powder and salt.
  • Keep it aside for at least half an hour while you chop the other vegetables.
  • Now take the sheeks or grilling iron sticks; start sticking pieces of paneer and vegetables in them by piercing.
  • Put paneer, onion, capsicum and tomato pieces alternatively.
  • Sprinkle some chaat masala on it.
  • Douse the stick with olive oil with a brush or just with your fingers.
  • Grill it in the microwave for 10-12 minutes by changing sides.
  • You can also lay the sticks on a pan, cover and cook.

You can serve paneer tikka as a snacks or starter with your meals for Eid.
