Lice are little wingless insects that feed on human blood. They mostly form infestations on human heads, but can also be found in the pubic area or even in the eyelashes and eyebrows. Garlic: The strong pungent smell of garlic would suffocate the lice. Rub garlic pieces on your scalp for this home remedy for lice to work. Leave this on for half an hour and then shampoo your hair as usual.
Olive Oil: Olive oil can also suffocate and smother head lice. Massage your scalp with olive oil and wear a shower cap and keep it on overnight. Shampoo the hair like you usually would the next morning.
Baby Oil: Baby oil is also known to smother head lice. This natural home remedy for lice is especially good for little children, as it is very gentle. This is a perfect way to deal with lice.
Petroleum Jelly: Put a thick layer of petroleum jelly on your scalp and leave it on overnight. Comb the hair, the next morning, to get rid of the dead lice. The jelly stifles the lice.
Mayonnaise: Mayonnaise also has a really strong smell and it is thick. Both of these attribute in making this natural ingredient perfect for suffocating lice.
Neem: Neem has antibacterial properties and it cleanses the scalp naturally. Boil neem leaves in water and use the water on your scalp, allow it to sit for an hour. Wash your hair after an hour. This is a really gentle home remedy for lice.
