Remedies To Soothe Burning Eyes

Many of us suffer from burning eyes many times. Sometimes it becomes a big problem and hampers our day to day work. Sore eyes are not only painful, but also makes you look horrible. It becomes such a big problem, especially when you have some important tasks ahead and you cannot avoid them. Do you know what are the reasons of burning eyes and how can you reduce the inflammation, itching and pain?

There can be many reasons for burning eyes like bacterial or viral eye infection, pollution and over sun-exposure. Sometimes we get burning eyes due to natural irritants like pollen, dust and sand. Also, excessive reading and exposure to chemical irritants cause burning and sore sure eyes.

Whatever the reasons are, if you start treating them in early stages, you can get rid of burning eyes easily. You can try some home remedies which are hassle free and provide immediate relief from sore eyes. The ingredients such as potatoes, cucumber, baking soda, castor oil, tea bags and aloe vera juice used in these remedies are easily available in your kitchen.

Here are the remedies which you can try to get rid of burning eyes.

Splash ice cold water

If your eyes are burning, splash ice cold water. Water helps remove dirt add dust particles from your eyes, and soothes them. Also, make sure you keep your hands clean and don't touch your eyes with dirty hands at all.

Rose water

Take a cotton ball and soak it in rose water. Place it over your eyelids. It gives you immediate relief from burning sensation in your eyes. Rose water has such qualities which soothe your eyes and gives you relief from sore eyes.

Potato slices or grated potato

Potato slices or grated potato

You can put potato slices on your eyelids. Let it sit there for minimum 15 minutes and then rinse it off with cold water. It helps reduce the eye inflammation. You can also refrigerate potato before using it on your eyes.

Put cucumber slices

Put cucumber slices

Cut two slices of cucumber and place them in ice cold water. Also you can refrigerate cucumber before using it. Put the cucumber slices on your eyelids for minimum 15 minutes. Cucumber is known for its cooling properties and helps soothe your burning eyes.

Apply tea bags

Apply tea bags

This is another home remedy that can soothe the burning eyes. Soak two green or black tea bags in cold water so that it becomes moist. Now put them over your eyelids for 15-20 minutes. Repeat this process several times a day to get faster relief. You can also use a weak solution of tea as eyewash.

Yes, your favorite aloe vera juice is a great remedy to get rid of burning eyes. Simply refrigerate aloe vera juice for some time. Take two cotton balls and soak them in the cold juice. Place them over your eyes for 15-20 minutes.

Take some dried chamomile flowers and boil them in water. Strain the water and let it cool down properly. Use this solution as an eyewash. It soothes your burningeyes, removes dirt and keeps away inflammation.

Castor oil

Castor oil

Take a clean eye dropper and suck castor oil into it. Put one drop of it in each eye. Do it thrice or four times a day if there is too much eye burning. It will soothe your tired and burning eyes, and reduce the swelling.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is one of the most important ingredients in your kitchen which is a wonderful remedy for sore eyes. Mix a teaspoon of pure apple cider vinegar in a cup of water. Take a cotton ball and soak it in the apple cider vinegar. Apply on the eyes to get relief.
