Viparitkarni Mudra: Half Shoulder stand
Viparitkarni or the half shoulder stand is one of the inverted postures, like Sirshasana and Sarvangasana. This should not be practiced alone till it is mastered.
Step 1: Lie on your back with hands by your side. Palms facing downward.
Step 2: Slowly raise both your legs and bring them to 90 degrees.
Step 3: Lift your hips and support them with your hands, such that the body is supported on the elbows. Your shoulders, upper and mid back should be should be firmly on the ground. Hold for 10-30 seconds. Breathe normally in the pose.
Note: Viparitkarni is not Sarvangasana. In Sarvangasana, the body is at 90 degrees and rests on the shoulders and neck.
